Countries’ external dependency measures how much a country depends on money from sources outside of the country. Countries more dependent on external funds are assumed to be more vulnerable, as they have fewer funds available to deal with shocks or to implement adaptation strategies. This indicator measures official development assistance and remittances as a share of GDP per capita.
